Funny Farm you say, at times it is as though we live on a funny farm. This year we thought it well to get the kids some animals to raise and take care of. Last year they raised a couple of leppy calves and loved them. So this year the ranch had a couple of more calves but we just had to add to the fun and in April we got a couple of day old lambs, ( I will find a picture of them they were adorable) we bottle fed them for a couple of months. And now they have the run of the place because we do not have fences enough to keep them in. More to their story later. Bun Bun, yes the bunny, he is actually the second rabbit, the dog ate the first one, tragic. So we got them another bunny and they loved him so. As you can see by the picture Challas could not get enough of the bunny, he fed him every veggie in the fridge and packed him everywhere. Bun Bun 2 disappeared a couple of weeks ago, kids were so worried, we are not sure what happened to him. Can not forget to mention the white rooster that Koy captured at the rodeo, he to is a luck duck, the dogs had their fun with him for the first couple of days, so now he is sleek and precise in his movements, yet crows all day long. If the kids are out playing he will strut around a bit to let his presents be known, but evade capture.
It sure has been an entertaining summer.
Tiger the cat, or "my tidee" as Challas calls him. He is a saint, and a survivor. With all the vagrant wildlife around he is still here, despite the daily torture or "love" as challas sees it. He loves the kids, is not afraid of the dogs has not gotten eaten by a bobcat and has lots to say to the sheep. I was watching the cat and the two sheep when I snapped this picture. You can see the where the cat is, well the two sheep were right up next to the fence with their faces right up to the cat. The cat was batting their faces side to side like he was trying to talk some sense in them. It was quite entertaining, of course when I ran to grab the Ipad and got back the sheep ran off and the cat gave me this look like I was interfering in his business.
And finally more of the sheep story, these two have adopted us as kin. Where ever the kids are they are near. When we are gone and come home they are the first to greet us baa baa baaing like where have you been. They sleep up against the front door like guard dogs. On the mornings that I get to go running they come along to, they run with me like dogs the entire way, Some days I feel like little BO peep! Although I can not seem to loose my sheep. The dogs seem to like them and don't chase or pay them any mind. How ever the 13 puppies we had did enjoy trying their hands at herding them around and really it was good harmless practice for them.
